Yesterday, Dubai witnessed an exceptional event that reflects the unique nature of Dubai as the best city to live in the world, and its lively and active society, as His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, presented 226 thousand runners participating in the fifth session of « Dubai Running Challenge sponsored by Mai Dubai.
At the conclusion of the Dubai Fitness Challenge 2023, the Challenge once again strengthened its position as the largest free community running event in the world, as it succeeded in breaking the numbers it achieved last year.
Along with His Highness the Crown Prince of Dubai, astronauts Sultan Al Neyadi and Hazza Al Mansouri participated, and they were joined by Al Neyadi’s fellow astronauts from the “Expedition 69” crew on his historic journey aboard the International Space Station, where American astronauts participated in the race: Stephen Bowen, Warren Hoiberg, and Francisco Hoyberg. Rubio, and Russian astronauts: Sergey Prokopyev, Dmitry Petlin, and Andrey Fedyaev, as this participation came as a gesture that shows the importance of exercising as a way of life, which is the call launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for a healthy, vibrant and active society.
Astronaut Sultan Al Neyadi presented the “Dubai Fitness Challenge Flag” to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, at the launch of the fifth session of the “Dubai Running Challenge”, as a gesture of appreciation for His Highness’s keenness to ensure that Dubai society is an active and proactive society for practicing sports, which It is one of the most important reasons for preserving human health, and taking pride in this unique event that reflects the extent of the vitality that Dubai enjoys, the city of creativity in all fields, including the sports field.
Sultan Al Neyadi carried the “Dubai Fitness Challenge flag” during his trip aboard the International Space Station, which is the longest in history for an Arab astronaut and lasted for six months, in order to highlight the extent of the interest that the UAE pays to sports, and the keenness of the wise leadership in Dubai to make it a basis. For a healthy life for a productive and creative society capable of inspiring the world towards better quality of life.

The event attracted participants of all ages and physical abilities, as Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the most important streets in Dubai, was transformed into a huge running track, providing a rare opportunity for runners to enjoy Dubai’s famous landmarks within a unique experience, as the start of the “challenge” came in an atmosphere full of energy and vitality. It included two different paths suitable for runners of all fitness levels: the first is the 10-kilometre Sheikh Zayed Road path, which allows participants to challenge themselves while enjoying viewing the most prominent landmarks of Dubai, and the second is the five-km downtown path, which gave participants from families and friends a unique opportunity to communicate. As they embark on an unforgettable journey in the heart of the city.
