TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) has given the second dose of monkey pox vaccination or Monkeypox (Mpox). According to the data provided, 221 people have received the vaccine as of Saturday, November 25 2023.

Head of the Surveillance, Epidemiology and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Service, Ngabila Salama, said that the time interval for administering the 1st to 2nd dose is 4 weeks or 28 days. The location for administering the vaccine is the same as the first dose, namely at five locations chosen by DKI.

Previously, the Indonesian Ministry of Health had provided 1000 doses of vaccine to the DKI Health Office. And it has been given in phase 1 to 495 people since Monday, October 23 2023. “This phase two vaccine dose is a continuation of phase one,” said Ngabila, confirmed via WhatsApp message on Sunday, November 26 2023.

Meanwhile, the remaining 10 doses are used for testing at the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM). Due to limited numbers, vaccination is prioritized for high-risk groups as a prevention effort. The risk group consists of men who have sex with men or (MSM), pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, children and the elderly.

Currently, said Ngabila, the Indonesian Ministry of Health is in the process of procuring 4500 doses, plus a planned grant from ASEAN for 2000 doses.
