A bus driver was subjected to violence on the Festplassen on the night of Sunday, the police say.
– He received several blows to the head, says task leader Janne Kjeseth in the West police district to BA.
The man had clear marks on his face, but was awake after the incident. He appears as an accidental victim.
– We drove him to the emergency department for a check-up, Kjeseth explains.
The police were notified at 0250.
Police chase
While the victim was being examined, the police began hunting for the perpetrator.
The police received information that the suspect was on the Bybanen that left Byparken, and followed him.
– He got off at Nonneseter and ran from there. We got control of him in the area by the railway station, says the task leader.
Arrested
The man in his 20s was arrested and charged with violence against the bus driver.
– He was very drunk, and was taken into custody, says Kjeseth.
As of now, no witnesses have been found to the violence itself.
Details of the course of events will form part of the police’s further investigation.
