«Emilio Contaldo left us after having experienced a splendid party with us. Thank you for your naive folly.” This is the message of remembrance that appeared yesterday, at the end of the first episode of the new season, of the program Ciao Darwin broadcast on Canale 5. A message that caught the viewers of the following program hosted by Paolo Bonolis by surprise considering that Contaldo was present in yesterday’s episode as “sent” on behalf of Luca Laurenti and with a short sketch in the final part of the broadcast. The mystery was soon revealed. The episode was filmed before the summer.
The cameo and the amazement of the viewers
In July, Contaldo suffered a heart attack. Fifty-eight years old, originally from San Marzano sul Sarno (Salerno), Contaldo had become almost a permanent presence on the show. In 2010, taking part in an episode of Ciao Darwin for the Southern Italy team, he became the undisputed protagonist during the Genodrome moment. Three years earlier, in 2007, he had already participated in another recording in the hitherto unreleased role of Father Nature. The friendliness of “Meliuccio 0 ′ Scarraffcchio”, as he was known in the rural municipality, had then pushed Paolo Bonolis to call him back for a “cameo” in the first episode of 2023 which, however, he was unable to see. He died on July 21st, a few days after the recording.
