Aviation entrepreneurs asked the Ministry of Transportation to remove the upper limit tariff (TBA) regulations for aircraft. They asked for flight rates to be fully adjusted to market mechanisms.

Aviation observer, Gerry Soejatman, explained that the TBA condition, which has not increased since 2019, has actually resulted in high ticket prices during the low season. This is done so that the airline can make a profit.
The abolition of the TBA itself is considered impossible due to the long bureaucratic process that requires changing the contents of the law, specifically Law Number 1 of 2009/Aviation Law. Gerry sees that the policy of increasing the TBA is considered more reasonable than eliminating it.
“In the short term, it is absolutely impossible for us to remove it because it would have to change an article in the law. Not to mention, if it is removed there must also be a surveillance mechanism to check whether the price is reasonable or not because the assessment method will be different if there is a limit tariff above,” he said in the Reject Poor detikFinance podcast, written on Saturday (25/11/2023).
According to Gerry, easing the TBA is one middle path that can be taken. He suggested that if the TBA was increased, there should be more supervision of the actions taken by airline companies.

He also emphasized that people should be peaceful and patient with the conditions plane ticket prices At the moment. He revealed that the current aviation situation is still unstable due to high demand, but inadequate supply due to the pandemic.
