Highlights of the 2021 Český slavík show and celebrations

A lot happened in the show, which lasted about three and a half hours all in all. It started with a surprise in the form of the third place of Monika Absolonová, who usually made it to the top six nominees, but did not achieve greater success.

It continued with the return of Ewa Farná to the throne of female singers, the defense of the primacy of the group Kabát and Marek Ztracený, the return of Helena Vondráčková to the poll program after fifteen years, and the fact that she started the pre-sale of tickets for her concert in Prague’s O2 arena live, so that in an hour in the same learned that it was already sold out.

Helena Vondráčková returned to the Český slavík survey and experienced waves of joy

It caused such an eruption of joy in her that she momentarily shed her pop lady image and became a cheerful girl who managed to advance in some search contest.

Václav Neckář celebrated his 80th birthday on stage

Václav Neckár’s entry into the Hall of Fame was also one of the strong moments, especially since his friend and companion Marta Kubišová introduced him there. If we add Helena Vondráčková present to them, the three from the band Golden Kids were again very close.

What was not in the broadcast

Said commercial breaks had the magic of making the audience take action. They discussed, agreed, drank and returned to their places. However, the guests were not very organized, so at the end of each break, the director of the broadcast, Pepe Majeský, demanded through the loudspeakers that everyone should sit down. Sometimes his voice sounded angry.

During the breaks, which were four for the entire program on Friday, the hall was mainly celebrating. Those who received awards in the previous entry received congratulations from colleagues and posed for photographers directly on the stage under the stage. During the first break, Ewa Farna and Lucie Bílá huddled together because of them, during the fourth break they filled their glasses with champagne again and toasted their success in front of the cameras with Marek Ztracený, Vojtěch Dyk and Richard Krajčo, three of this year’s most popular singers.

But it was not easy to come to them under the stage. The golden confetti, which was fired immediately after the opening song of the evening, slid uncomfortably on the floor, so it was easier to “skate” to the celebrations than to walk.

The fact that, as the end approached, some viewers left the hall during those commercial breaks for good, given the persistently tiresome length of the program, it certainly won’t surprise even those who watched it “only” on television sets in the luxury of their homes.

Applause for Vondráčková

As expected, the audience in the hall gave a long standing ovation for Václav Neckár’s entry into the Hall of Fame, Jitka Čvančarová’s performance, in which she paid tribute to Yvonne Přenosilová, who passed away this year, and Igor Timek from No Name and Ondřej Brzobohatý’s tribute to Vaš Patejdl.

Enthusiastic applause also came after Helena Vondráčková’s performance. She performed a medley of her hits, and the audience not only sang along with her, but stood up during her set, danced, and stood up almost in full after the set. It was the most surprising moment of the evening.

It was funny that when the moderators Ondřej Sokol and Aleš Háma read the vision of what could happen in the Czech show business in the next forty years, after a few minutes there was such laughter in the hall that it looked like a performance by stand up comedians.

On the contrary, the stupidest moment occurred when someone sprinkled flour on the singer Jan Bendigo when he arrived at the gala evening and shouted at him: “Gypsy.” However, to be safe, he immediately ran away as far as possible from the place where he committed the deplorable act of demonstrating his worldview.
