Prabowo Subianto Pushes for Reduction or Exemption of Education Taxes

Deputy Chairman of Commission Prabowo Subianto who want to reduce or even exempt taxes education. Dede Yusuf believes that this step can ease the burden on parents of sending their children to school.

“Agree, this is very good, reducing or eliminating education tax can reduce education costs so that students’ parents will not have to pay for it,” said Dede Yusuf when contacted, Friday (24/11/2023).

He said that this commitment must also be supported by education providers. According to him, education is a state investment, not state income.

“As long as there is a commitment with education providers not to make education costs expensive if taxes are removed. We have to think that education is a state investment, not state income,” he said.

Furthermore, Dede said that expensive taxes were also a complaint for education administrators. Moreover, he said, the government asked that education costs be cheap.

“Because what education providers often complain about is expensive taxes, especially for land and permits. Meanwhile, the government asks that education costs be cheap, even though their investments are large. As a result, only those with large capital can survive,” he said.

Previously, Prabowo Subianto believed that the education tax should be as low as possible. Prabowo also agrees that the education tax will be abolished, but it must be studied first.

“Then regarding taxes, I really agree, I will assign my experts to calculate it.
