[세종=뉴스핌] Reporter Jeong Seong-hoon = Prime Minister Han Deok-soo headed to Paris, France again in just 10 days. This is to make a last-minute effort to host the 2030 Busan World Expo.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office on the 25th, Prime Minister Han will visit Paris, France for a 5-day, 3-night schedule from the 26th to the 30th and attend the 173rd General Assembly of the Organization for International Exhibitions (BIE), where a vote on the 2030 World Expo will be held.

This visit will be attended by Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Bang Kyu Bang, Second Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Oh Young-joo, and Prime Minister Park Sung-geun, Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister.

At the 173rd BIE general meeting to be held on the 28th, the final presentation (PT) between competing countries to host the 2030 World Expo and a vote to determine the host site will be held.

Prime Minister Han plans to meet with representatives of BIE member countries and appeal for their support until the last minute of voting. We explain our government’s vision to ensure that the Busan Expo is not just a one-time event, but a platform where the world gathers to share wisdom on common human challenges such as climate change, inequality, and the digital gap, and builds national capabilities and national resources to realize this. The strategy is to repeatedly emphasize aspirations.

Prime Minister Han said, “We started later than other competing countries and ran fiercely,” and expressed his determination, “I will do my best with an unwavering mind until the last minute to deliver good news to the people.”

Meanwhile, the total distance traveled by the public and private sectors to host the Busan Expo over the past 509 days (‘22.07.08 – ‘23.11.28) amounts to 19,891,579 km (government: 9,768,194 km, companies: 10,123,385 km). The distance is equivalent to 495 times around the Earth.

Additionally, President Yoon Seok-yeol and Prime Minister Han have visited 33 countries to host the Busan Expo.
