Novak Djokovic Doping Controversy and Davis Cup Quarter-Finals Reaction

There is controversy surrounding Novak Djokovic and now because of doping control. The world number one reportedly refused to submit to a control an hour and a half before his meeting with the British Cameron Norrie, in the quarter-finals of the Davis Cup Final Eight, which Serbia ended up winning and sealing their qualification to the semi-finals -finals. The aforementioned anti-doping control was carried out after the match between the two teams, with Novak Djokovic even addressing the issue at the press conference and criticizing the control procedure. “I was informed an hour and a half before my meeting that I had to take an anti-doping test. Urine and blood. This completely disrupted my routines as I now had someone following my every step. It’s a completely illogical decision that I’ve never seen it happen in my 20-year career”, said the Serb, who made a point of highlighting that he was completely in favor of anti-doping control, but it should be done in a different way.

“I always supported testing but nothing they told me made sense, as they wanted me to do a test earlier with the argument that the teams would have more rest time. But whoever wins today [quinta-feira] I wouldn’t play tomorrow. I am available to take all tests, but after my meetings and not before.”
