The Social Welfare Department launched the “Child Care Center Parent Subsidy” in February 2020 to subsidize parents to pay for child care center service fees without asset testing. When Chief Executive Li Ka-chiu delivered the Policy Address last month, he mentioned that the monthly subsidy would be increased from a maximum of NT$600 to NT$1,000. The “Child Care Center Parent Grant” (hereinafter referred to as the “Parent Grant”) subsidizes parents to pay child care center service fees to relieve parents’ financial pressure. It is targeted at parents of young children receiving full-time subsidized child care services. Starting from April next year, the “parent subsidy” will be increased from a maximum of $600 to $1,000 per month, and is applicable to all government-subsidized independent child care centers and child care centers attached to kindergartens.

Application method

Distribution method

The Social Welfare Department will distribute the “Parent Subsidy” to the child care center where the child attends to directly subsidize the child’s monthly fee until the child leaves the full-time subsidized child care service center. If the child is transferred to another subsidized child care service center during childhood, the “parental allowance” will be transferred to the new child care center and will continue to be paid.

However, if a child attends different child care centers in the same month, the “Parent Subsidy” for that month will only be paid to the first child care center.
