The renowned actress and film director originally from Oaxaca, Ángeles Cruz, demanded that the governor of said entity, Salomón Jara, guarantee the lives of the inhabitants or resign, confirming that her brother was one of the victims of the ambush perpetrated by the Wednesday afternoon in the vicinity of the Bird Sanctuary, in the municipality of San Miguel El Grande, in the Mixteca region, which left five dead, two of them members of the State Investigation Agency (AEI), two community authorities and a civilian, the actress’s brother.

The Oaxacan filmmaker, who recently participated in the Morelia International Film Festival, demanded the resignation of Governor Salomón Jara for not addressing and resolving the agrarian conflict between the towns of Guadalupe Victoria and San Miguel El Grande, about which she said, they had already warned. to the president.

“Today we are burying our brother, José, the agent of the Lázaro Cárdenas neighborhood, we warned that we were in danger, Mr. Governor, you told us that we were going to be safe and today I am burying my brother, resign if you cannot handle the position, resign if you cannot guarantee our lives,” he said through tears.

Cruz, recognized with the Ariel and La Palmita EFM Award from the XVI French Film Tour, demanded justice for her brother and the other local authorities who died in an ambush last Wednesday afternoon in the Mixtec region of the State.

The victim is Román Cruz Murillo, who since May had joined the demands for support and intervention from state authorities to prevent attacks like the one that took his life, Reforma published.

The events occurred in the Bird Sanctuary area, on the border with Tlaxiaco, one of the municipalities that will be visited by President Andrés Manuel López Obrador next Saturday.

The State Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Oaxaca, the body to which the State Investigation Agency is attached and to which the murdered elements belonged, described the events as a “direct attack and an affront to the forces of the State.” He also pointed out that they will be used all means to find those responsible.

The attack occurred when the investigative police officers were carrying out a task to accompany residents of San Miguel El Grande, as part of the surveillance actions that the AEI and state and federal security agencies have maintained, due to the territorial conflict that this population maintains with Llano de Guadalupe, Tlaxiaco.
