Paris ring road at 50 km/h: Valérie Pécresse denounces Anne Hidalgo’s “selfishness”

From the mi-septemberjust after the 2024 Olympic Games, the speed on the Paris ring road will be lowered to 50 km/h, compared to 70 km/h today.

The Île-de-France region is getting annoyed

A decision from the City of Paris, revealed Wednesday November 22, 2023, as part of the presentation of its Fourth Climate Planand which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, as well as noise pollution, particularly for populations living around the axis which surrounds the capital.

But on the side of Île-de-France regionwe have little taste for this new measure carried by the mayor Anne Hidalgo (PS). In the columns of the newspaper Le Figaroits president Valérie Pécresse (LR) did not hide her dissatisfaction.

“It’s pure selfishness on the part of Anne Hidalgo: it’s not her voters that she’s bothering, but she wants discourage commuters from taking their cars “, she notably estimated. Adding that “80% of users do not live in Paris”.
