Live Silent Film Accompaniment by Lyre Musicians: Concert Tomorrow Evening!

the essential
The Lyre musicians will take on the challenge of an accompanying score for a silent film, live. It will be tomorrow evening!

To celebrate the patroness of musicians, the Valencian Harmony has decided, tomorrow Saturday November 25 at 9 p.m., to challenge itself by responding to the proposal of the Valencian conductor Quentin Ferradou. This former musician from La Lyre, who became a professor of percussion in Auch after brilliant studies at the conservatories of Montauban and Toulouse, specialized in the musical accompaniment of silent films with his ensemble Le Bruit de la pellicule. He became friends with the Toulouse composer Raphaël Howson who invents music adapted to the image and the Montalban orchestrator Anthony Lézian who adapts all the scores for different types of ensembles. It is therefore a tailor-made score that was offered to our musicians from La Lyre and they will have the pleasure of accompanying the film “Le Billet debank” created in 1907 by a pioneer of cinema: the director Alice Guy.

To open the evening, the Lyre valencienne will also present its current musical program directed by Pierre Baldassaré and Fabien Carrouché.

Free for children under 12

The second part of this film concert will be performed by the Toulouse orchestra well known in our latitudes. Still under the direction of Quentin Ferradou and with the same creative recipe, they will present two burlesque short films which will entertain young and old. We will thus have the pleasure of discovering Harold Lloyd and his legendary acrobatics in “Voyage au paradis” (1921) and Buster Keaton, adept at technical prowess and improbable stunts in “The Dismountable House” (1920). This evening will take you back to the golden age of silent cinema, when the biggest theaters offered screenings accompanied by a full orchestra. And since these are burlesque films that have been chosen, don’t hesitate to come and laugh with family or friends, it feels good!

Concert at the Halle Jean-Baylet, Saturday November 25 at 9 p.m. Price for reservation: 8 euros, free for children under 12, and 10th on site the evening of the concert. Numbered places on sale from the OT or on the Internet: billetterie-cc2r.mapado.com
