Manchester City and Liverpool Injury Update: Latest News and Training Updates

As many as seven Manchester City players at one point withdrew from the national team stay in the November gathering as a result of injury. But for most, it has not been a matter of serious injuries, and Pep Guardiola will probably count on having several of them in the squad against Liverpool on Saturday.

Thursday’s photos from the series leader’s training ground give us some answers. There we can see that Erling Braut Haaland and Nathan Aké are training fully. Haaland dropped Norway’s away match against Scotland after getting a knock in the private international match against the Faroe Islands. Aké, for his part, was not there when Virgil van Dijk and the Netherlands secured their ticket to the European Championship in Germany.

We can also see that Rodri is fully training. He did not feature when Spain faced Cyprus, but reported for duty and played 86 minutes in Sunday’s game against Georgia.

The uncertainties are now goalkeeper Ederson, defender John Stones and the midfield duo Mateo Kovacic and Matheus Nunes, who according to Manchester Evening News was not to be seen in the training. They were also not in action for their national teams in the recently concluded gathering.

City will in all probability have to manage without Kevin De Bruyne, who has been injured since the series opener.

For Liverpool, there was good news from the training ground on Thursday, when five players returned from injuries. Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Joe Gomez, Ibrahima Konaté and Conor Bradley were apparently in full training.

Both Jürgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola will meet the press on Friday and provide the latest news before Saturday’s big game.
