Israel and Hamas Ceasefire: Aid Organizations to Assist Refugee Palestinians

Nov 23, 2023 at 9:07 PM Update: 4 hours ago

A four-day lull in fighting between Israel and Hamas is expected to begin on Friday morning. This gives aid organizations time to help refugee Palestinians. But Israel is already preparing for the resumption of fighting.

The Israeli army (IDF) has been carrying out military actions in the north of the Gaza Strip for days. That is just the first step in the plan to destroy Hamas, a spokesman said Thursday.

“Taking control of northern Gaza is only the first step in a long war,” spokesman Daniel Hagari told a news conference.

Despite the pause in fighting that is to take effect on Friday, Israel is already preparing for “the next phases” of the war, according to Hagari.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant spoke similar words earlier on Thursday. According to him, there will be “at least another two months of intensive fighting.” That’s what he said Israeli media against IDF forces during a visit.

“After the release of the hostages (Friday morning, ed.), the fight will be postponed briefly. But in the meantime, we are preparing to continue the fight.”
