Tsvetelina Penkova gathers ministers, politicians, specialists and scientists at a conference on Bulgaria’s energy plan

/Pogled.info/ MEP from the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats Tsvetelina Penkova organized a conference on “Energy Strategy of Bulgaria: Plan for Energy Security”. It will be held on 24.11.2023 (Friday) at 9:00 a.m. in the building of the National Assembly at 1 Knyaz Alexander I Square.

“It is of fundamental importance for our country to build an independent, stable and reliable energy system. Joining forces and cooperation between government institutions, industry, academia, the non-governmental sector and trade unions are a guarantee of good long-term results for energy policy
and development of our country”, is how Tsvetelina Penkova motivated her initiative for the conference.

It will be opened by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rosen Zhelyazkov, by the Minister of Energy, Rumen Radev, and by the Minister of the Environment, Julian Popov. The event will be attended by representatives of all parliamentary groups in the 49th National Assembly, representatives of the executive power, representatives of trade union organizations, industry and academia. “I will also reveal some of the speakers: the chairman of KEVR – Ivan Ivanov, the chairman of the Nuclear Regulation Agency – Tsanko Bachiiski, the chairman of Bulatom – Bogomil Manchev, Prof. Alexander Tasev from BAS, the chairman of Eurohold – Asen Hristov and many other key experts added Penkova.

“Bulgaria and Europe have gone through and continue to go through a number of challenges. All of them create a need for policies of a long-term nature that can meet the needs of the industry and the Bulgarian citizens,” said the MEP.

She defined energy as one of the most important sectors to which we must pay serious attention: “Without stable energy, the economy does not develop – industry and business do not have the basic conditions for the growth of their activities. In short, energy is the basis of the proper functioning of the economy. And perhaps most importantly – access to electricity at low and adequate prices is the right of every Bulgarian and European citizen.”

It is planned that Bulgarian innovations will be presented within the framework of the conference
in the field of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency and sustainable practices, as well as their application in industry and economy. Scientists and experts from the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will present Bulgarian innovations and developments to show the Bulgarian contribution to the green transition and energy transformation.
