String of Break-Ins at Deutsche Bahn Ticket Machines in Freiburg – Federal Police Seeking Witnesses

Within 72 hours, three Deutsche Bahn ticket machines in the Freiburg city area were broken into. The federal police are looking for witnesses who can provide information about the crime.

An unknown perpetrator broke into the Deutsche Bahn ticket machine on platform 1 at the Landwasser stop early on Friday morning (November 17th, 2023). The break-in occurred between 3:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. The perpetrators were able to steal a sum of over 800 euros.

Early on Saturday morning (November 18th, 2023), the ticket machine at Wiehre train station on platform 1 was broken into. The time of the crime is given as shortly after four in the morning. During this break-in, the perpetrators stole an amount of 190 euros.

Early on Monday morning (November 20th, 2023) at 3:38 a.m., the last departure within the past 72 hours occurred. At Littenweiler train station, the perpetrators tried to get the money from the ticket machine on platform 1 by prying open the money chute. No money was stolen during the break-in.

The break-in caused material damage of around 35,000 euros to two devices each, as they had to be completely replaced.

The federal police have initiated an investigation and are now looking for witnesses. People who also observed the incidents and can report on them or who may have photographed or videotaped the events are asked to contact the Federal Police on 07628 80590.
