The campaign comes within the framework of the directives of the Ministry of Health and Population to make quality family planning and reproductive health services available free of charge in all fixed units and mobile clinics spread in cities and villages across the Republic.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the campaign is being implemented in the governorates of Giza, Fayoum, Minya, Assiut, Luxor, Aswan, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Beheira and Ismailia in the period from November 26 to December 6, pointing out that the campaign is being implemented in Port Said Governorate from the 6th to the next. Next December 12.
Abdul Ghaffar added that the campaign provides counseling, family planning, and reproductive health services, in addition to pregnancy follow-up and ultrasound, through specialists. Family planning methods and medications are also dispensed free of charge in fixed and mobile clinics, urban centers, general and central hospitals, and maternal and child care centers.
For his part, Dr. Hossam Abbas, Head of the Population and Family Planning Sector, indicated that the implementation of this campaign coincides with the ongoing door-knocking campaign in nine governorates: Menoufia, Gharbia, Sharqia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Damietta, Alexandria, Marsa Matrouh, Beni Suef, and Sohag.
Abbas pointed out that exhibitions will be held for women’s clubs, which have proven effective and successful over the course of previous campaigns, adding that this activity represents an aspect of the Ministry’s contribution to improving demographic characteristics and empowering women, as all the exhibits are produced by beneficiaries who frequent health units, out of belief in The sector emphasizes the importance of women’s empowerment and its role in improving the economic income of Egyptian families.
Dr. Doaa Muhammad, Head of the Central Department of Family Planning and Reproductive Health Services, said that the Ministry provides safe and effective family planning methods, including long-acting ones, such as the copper and hormonal IUD, as well as the Implanon Next capsule. It also provided Cyana injections, which were recently added to family planning methods and are taken under the skin to meet the needs of all people.
