Olympique Lyonnais signed a second victory in the Women’s Champions League by winning at home (2-0) against the Austrians of St Polten, Wednesday evening (photo).
The Lyonnaises quickly marked their territory in front of their audience at Groupama Stadium. From the 4th minute, the Dutch Daniëlle Van de Donk, six meters in front of the cage, took advantage of a perfectly adjusted cross from Selma Bacha from the left to deceive the opposing goalkeeper with a header (1-0, 4th). Enough to allow his team, largely dominant and never worried, to calmly return to the break, with this advantage.
Things didn’t drag on after returning from the locker room either. Two minutes after the restart, the unfortunate Austrian defender Leonarda Balog diverted into her net a rebound from Ada Hegerberg which was flying off target (2-0, 47th csc). Two goals, a minimum as the control of the French champions on this meeting was total with 65% possession of the ball and 35 shots to 4.
For their next match, on Wednesday December 13 (9:00 p.m.), Sonia Bompastor’s players, leaders of their group, will host the Norwegians of Brann Bergen, who also won their first two matches (2-1 at St Polten and 1-0 against Slavia Prague).
Group B standings : 1. Olympique Lyonnais6 points (+11) ; 2. Brann Bergen (Nor), 6 pts (+2) ; 3. St Polten (Aut), 0 pt (-3) ; 4. Slavia Prague (Rtc), 0 pt (-10).
