Daboub: Thank you to the Kuwaiti fans for their support of the Palestinian team

Palestine national team coach Makram Daboub extended his sincere thanks to the Kuwaiti fans for attending the Palestine-Australia match, which was held the day before yesterday at Jaber International Stadium, and which the Palestinian national team lost 1-0 in the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Daboub said, during the press conference, that the great public support from Kuwaitis gave the Palestine national team players additional support.
He added: “We lost two points with Lebanon and we deserved a draw today against Australia, and every match we waste opportunities due to the lack of success.”
He considered the Bangladesh team to be the weakest team in the group, acknowledging that the direct confrontation with Lebanon would decide the result and qualification. Daboub hoped that all the players would be present at the Asian Cup next January, considering that the absence of local players affected the performance required.
The Palestine national team secured its place in the Asian Cup finals scheduled to be held in Qatar in early 2024, and came in the third group alongside Iran, the Emirates, and Hong Kong, while the dream of being in the World Cup still haunts the Fedayeen.
For his part, Australia coach Graham Arnold confirmed that the support that the Palestinian team received was incredibly great, pointing out that he and his players were aware that the task would not be easy.
He said that the countries of the Middle East are performing well and we can learn a lot from them, congratulating the Palestinian team for providing a strong performance, which is what I expected and alerted the players about. He added after the team’s victory that the Palestinian team was developed and played well, and it is a fighting team. He continued: “In the end, we were the ones who achieved victory. We also fought and succeeded in maintaining the result. We won two important matches and we will prepare for the next match to win.”
