AOn Saturday afternoon (November 18th), the hall of the Theurer inn in Glaubedorf was full when chairwoman Theresia Hofmann from the Ziersdorf seniors invited people to the annual general meeting. This is no coincidence, as the team around the 73-year-old is one of the most active senior groups in Lower Austria.

With organizational officer Christine Bachl and deputy chairman Christiane Hostek, Resi Hofmann puts together the monthly excursion destinations. Josephine Aichinger also offers cycling trips. This year, Ziersdorf’s seniors cycled a total of 865 kilometers. This corresponds to the route from Ziersdorf to Berlin.

Adolf Hainzl proves that seniors have their finger on the pulse of the times. It delivers the online reports of the activities within the shortest possible time. There was special praise for this from Deputy Mayor Stefan Schröter. Finally, thanks to the good work, the seniors gained nine new members.

Christine Wenzl is a new member of the board. The 71-year-old will look after Großmeiseldorf. The oldest member of the seniors’ association is 95-year-old Leopold Zimmermann from Großmeiseldorf. Alfred Wimmer from Radlbrunn was the oldest man at the annual general meeting at 89, while among the women it was Mathilde Klepp at 85. Chairwoman Hofmann gave them flowers and wine.

Organization officer Bachl received the silver badge from the state parliament member Richard Hogl, and cycle tour leader Josephine Aichinger received the silver badge from the Lower Austrian Senior Citizens’ Association. The next senior trip takes place from May 18th to 24th to the flat island of Rügen, which is ideal for cycling tours.
