Aschbach-Markt is the regional winner of “Lower Austria cycles”

DThe municipality of Aschbach-Markt won the national championship title in the “Lower Austria cycles” campaign in the category of municipalities with 2,000 to 5,000 inhabitants in an exciting head-to-head race with the municipality of Grafenegg, for the second time in a row.

Honorary Commander Gottfried Bühringer was also able to accept the awards for the Krenstetten Volunteer Fire Department, which achieved third place in the category of clubs with 50 to 200 members.

Numerous cycling-loving club members from the Amstetten district also successfully collected their kilometers: The “NÖ Seniors Aschbach-Markt” club achieved an excellent second place in the category of clubs with 201 to 1,000 members, while the Krenstetten Volunteer Fire Department took third place in the category Clubs with 50 to 200 members.

Deputy Governor Udo LandbauerRadland Lower Austria Managing Director Susanna Hauptmann and Bernhard Lackner, Director of the Lower Austrian Insurance, congratulated the state winners during the award ceremony on November 20th in St. Pölten. “The success goes to our families and compatriots, but also to the committed communities, companies, clubs and regions. I warmly congratulate all participants who showed a lot of sporting spirit and perseverance,” said Landbauer.
“’Niederösterreich radelt’ is not about speed or top sporting performance, but rather about motivating people to cycle in everyday life,” said Radland managing director Susanna Hauptmann. “Radland Niederösterreich – the agency for active mobility” organizes this campaign every year in Lower Austria, which is embedded in the Austria-wide “Österreich radelt” initiative. The winners received trophies and certificates as an award for the kilometers they cycled.

In its fifth year of existence, the “Niederösterreich radelt” campaign has broken all the records of previous years. With an increase of 21 percent, it achieved a record participation of 6,595 committed cyclists. Together, they covered a total of around 4.8 million kilometers (120 orbits of the earth) between March 20 and September 30, which corresponds to an increase of 15 percent compared to the previous year.
