During an interview given to GMX and reported by Tennis365the winner of Wimbledon 1991, Michael Stich, talks about his somewhat premature retirement and compares it with that of Roger Federer, who pushed to the end (at exactly 40 years old) or even a little too much according to the former German player .

“I’m glad I stopped at 28. It must also be said that the decision was completely spontaneous after the semi‐final defeat against Cédric Pioline at Wimbledon in 1997. It was my decision and I had to accept it. This is why the reaction of those around me was not very important to me at first.
