The Regional Courts will celebrate Universal Children’s Day, which is commemorated on November 20, with an institutional event this Wednesday, the 22nd, jointly for the first time with the Platform of Children’s Organizations (POI) of Castilla-La Mancha and the regional delegation of Unicef. At this event, schoolchildren from five educational centers in the region will also speak.
As the regional Parliament recalls in a press release, the UN proposed the celebration of Children’s Day every November 20 to remember that on that date in 1959 the Declaration of the Rights of the Child was approved.
For this reason, the Autonomous Parliament has called this event in the Plenary Hall, which will feature the welcoming words of the President of the Chamber, Pablo Bellido; some opening remarks by the president of Unicef CLM, Joaquín Sánchez Garrido; the president of POI C-LM, Gregorio Fernández García del Vello; and the Minister of Social Welfare, Bárbara García Torijano.
In addition, schoolchildren from ‘Los Molinos’ schools in Higueruela; ‘Salesians’ of Puertollano; ‘Casablanca’ from Cuenca; ‘La Espiga’ of Azuqueca de Henares; and ‘Río Tajo’ ‘José Manuel Oviedo’ from Aldeanueva de Barbarolla, Bercial and Alcolea del Tajo will present some works and take the floor in the speakers’ gallery to offer their experiences in relation to children’s rights, in an event which will end with the reading of a manifesto and a Children’s Day motion and some conclusions.
The event can be followed through the event retransmission channel on the website of the Regional Courts, www.cortesclm.es and on their official accounts on the social networks Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.
