Middle East: Bin Salman calls for “serious” peace process

Which leads to the birth of a Palestinian state

Saudi Arabia is calling for the start of a serious and comprehensive peace process to create a Palestinian state along the 1967 borders. This was said by the Kingdom’s crown prince, Mohammed Bin Salman.

Speaking at a virtual summit of the BRICS group, the Saudi crown prince said there is no way to achieve security and stability in Palestine except through the implementation of international decisions regarding a two-state solution.

The crown prince added that the Kingdom rejected the forced displacement of Palestinians and called on all countries to stop exporting weapons to Israel.

“We demand the immediate suspension of Israeli military operations in Gaza.”

Mohammed Bin Salman said the Kingdom has worked tirelessly since the beginning of the crisis to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip and called for the immediate entry of aid into the territory.

The Kingdom has so far sent 15 planes carrying various humanitarian aid, including shelter materials, food and ambulances, to Palestinians inside the Gaza Strip. Last week it also set up a sea bridge to deliver aid to the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the extraordinary BRICS summit accused Israel of war crimes and “genocide” in Gaza.

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said: “Israel’s collective punishment of Palestinian civilians through the unlawful use of force is a war crime. The deliberate denial of medicine, fuel, food and water to Gaza residents amounts to genocide.”
