LadBaby: The UK Christmas Chart Champion and Charitable Parody Artist

Every year in the United Kingdom, artists make it a sport to top the charts in the last list of the year. LadBaby, the stage name of Mark Ian Hoyle, has succeeded in doing this in recent years and thus wrote history. The Beatles held the record for a long time with four first places during Christmas.

LadBaby made parodies of existing songs. His first success ‘We Built This City’ was a remake of the Starship song of the same name. This was followed by ‘I Love Sausage Rolls’ (an adaptation of I Love Rock ‘n Roll), ‘Don’t Stop Me Eatin” (‘Don’t Stop Believin”) and ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’, where the vlogger got help from Ed Sheeran and Elton John. Last year they succeeded with ‘Food Aid’, a parody of the Band Aid classic ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas?’.

The proceeds from the singles went entirely to charity. In total, LadBaby sold more than 750,000 copies of his songs in five years.

Now that LadBaby is out of the competition, British media think that old Christmas classics such as ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ by Mariah Carey, ‘Fairytale of New York’ by The Pogues or ‘Last Christmas’ by Wham! have a good chance.
