Chennai: Tamil Nadu police have registered a case against actor Mansoor Ali Khan for making misogynistic remarks against actress Trisha. The National Commission for Women intervened in the incident and instructed the police to file a case against the actor. The case is charged with sexual harassment and insulting women.
Meanwhile, Mansoor Ali Khan responded to the media on Tuesday saying that there is no apology to be made in the matter. It was a mistake on their part that the South Indian Film Stars Association asked him to apologize publicly. Mansoor Ali Khan said that the phrase ‘rape scene’ should not be translated as actual rape.
Recently, Mansoor Ali Khan’s sexist comment on actress Trisha drew widespread criticism. In Lokesh Kanakaraj’s new film Leo, Mansoor Ali Khan said that he expected to have a bedroom scene with Trisha and it did not happen. Mansoor had said that he expected to drag Trisha to bed like other actresses, but he did not even get to see Trisha on the sets.
After the remark, actress Trisha came out with a strong criticism against Mansoor Ali Khan. Trisha commented that Mansoor is a disgrace to humanity and will never share screen space with him. Trisha said, “I saw a video of Mansoor Ali Khan talking about me in a bad and obscene manner. It’s a sexist, very rude, misogynist and disgusting statement. He can wish but will be forever indebted for not sharing the screen with such a depraved person. Will take utmost care not to have a film with him. He is a disgrace to humanity” – Trisha said.
Leo’s director Lokesh Kanakaraj also came out in support of Trisha. Lokesh said that he was disappointed and angry at his colleague’s anti-women remarks. It is necessary to treat women with respect in all fields. In a note shared on X, he said that respect for women, artists and professionals should be invaluable in every industry.
