Missed. Hormadi did not take advantage of the derby against the Boxers to revive themselves. Faced with a Bordeaux team in great form recently, the Basques only gave in for a quarter of an hour before giving in to the collective play of the elusive Boxers, before a new surge at the end of the match. Angloys who start this meeting with their feet on the ground by exerting a lot of pressure on the Bordeaux rearguard. An energetic start punctuated by a few shots towards the Boxers’ goal.
But Pierrick Rezard’s men, more than perfect in these first minutes, were unable to finish this period with a goal. A detrimental lack of realism, especially as Bordeaux gradually restored the balance in the game. Boxers who ended up finding the fault shortly before the quarter of an hour of play, forcing the Hormadi to run very quickly after the score. A goal which resonates with Rezard’s players, who fail to regain the momentum at the start of the match.
And Basque affairs did not improve with immediate strong pressure from Bordeaux which led to a quick second goal from the Boxers with a long shot (22nd). Hormadi suffers and relies on Saint-Cyr to postpone the deadline. But everything is going too quickly for the Angloys who suffer the waves and concede a third goal a minute after the second. And the Bordeaux festival continues with a save from Saint-Cyr from the throw-in.
Hope is reborn
The Basques were seriously swaying, were asphyxiated and were unable to escape from the grip of their opponents, unable to push the puck out of their camp. But this Basque team is not giving up. Better, Puffer manages to deceive Papillon from close range to restore interest to this derby (27ᵉ). Goals in spades before a clear increase in pace in the second part of this third period which ends with a status quo, still offering hope to Pierrick Rezard’s men. A hope that diminishes as the minutes pass.
The Bordelais thus continue their work of undermining against the Basques who cannot find the fault to score this second goal which would change everything. Worse, it was the Boxers, on a new offensive, who overcame the Hormadi defense to deceive Saint-Cyr (48ᵉ). An achievement which this time makes the return of the Angloys very illusory. Basques who, however, reduced the gap through Dunn (52nd) then came back to life forty seconds later with a fine goal from Deslauriers. A vain return.
