PEKANBARU – In order to prevent the spread of the Monkeypox virus or monkey pox, the Health Service (Diskes) encourages residents in Pekanbaru City, Riau, to adopt clean and healthy living behavior (PHBS).
Head of the Pekanbaru Health Department, Dr. Zaini Rizaldy Saragih, emphasized that PHBS is important as a preventive measure, even though there have been no reports of residents being confirmed with the virus.
“We urge residents to implement the PHBS pattern, by frequently washing their hands with soap and running water,” said Head of the Pekanbaru Health Department, Tuesday (21/11/2023).
Cases of monkey pox have been recorded in Indonesia, however, Pekanbaru is still free from monkey pox.
For this reason, Diskes will continue to monitor the spread of this virus without confirmation in Pekanbaru health facilities.
“People can be aware of symptoms such as rashes on the face, hands, genitals and feet, which are usually accompanied by fever and swollen lymph nodes,” he added.
The authorities invite the entire community to participate in maintaining personal hygiene to prevent the potential spread of Monkeypox in Pekanbaru City. (MEDIA CENTER RIAU / PR)
