Dengue Fever Vaccine – Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society

Dengue fever is caused by infection with the dengue virus, which has 4 strains, Dengue-1, Dengue-2, Dengue-3, Dengue-4, which are transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. Currently, there are 2 types of dengue vaccine:

CYD-TDV (Dengvaxia) TDV (Qdenga)
Type of vaccine The infection is debilitating. (Live-attenuated) The infection is debilitating. (Live-attenuated)
Vaccine structure Yellow fever virus is the core. Mixed with dengue virus 1-4 Dengue virus 2 is a combination of dengue viruses 1-4.
efficiency Results of the study: 25 months after vaccination, 65 percent prevented symptomatic infection, 80 percent prevented hospital admission, and 93 percent prevented severe infection. Results of the study: 12 months after injection, 80% prevented symptomatic infection, 90% prevented hospital admission, 86% prevented severe infection.
Age that can be injected 6-45 years 4-60 years
Number of needles 3 injections, 6 months apart 2 injections, 3 months apart
Who can be vaccinated The injection can only be given to people who have already had dengue fever. People who have never had dengue fever You should consult your doctor and have your blood tested before injection. The injection can be given to both people who have and have not had dengue fever before. There is no need for a blood test before vaccination.
