Cattaneo (InfoCert) “Smarter bureaucracy with our services” – Il Tempo

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “Trust Service Providers, including InfoCert, give legal value to remote digital transactions. It is easy to transform a process digitally, but only if it is something of value, such as the sale of a vehicle or a contract. A series of tools, including digital signatures, make it possible to do everything digitally that can be done on paper. For example, it is guaranteed who was the last to modify a document, that it has not been modified subsequently. And there are other tools including certified e-mail, equivalent to a registered letter: for the company, i.e. the certified e-mail provider, who is not the one who sends or receives the letter, we are the ones who certify what has been sent, what has been received and also read.” Danilo Cattaneo, CEO of InfoCert, Qualified Trust Service Provider, said in an interview with Italpress that, among other things, he is digitizing Italian bureaucracy with his own services.
“These services have certainly simplified the lives of citizens – he underlined – With Covid it was clear to everyone how important it was to carry out transactions remotely. Let’s imagine all the management of transactions with Covid, it was impossible to go to a public office, it has become possible thanks to the Spid, or the certified e-mail with digital signature. After Covid there is no going back, it was evident not only the advantage of not exchanging pen and paper avoiding personal contact, but also what we call frictional mobility. Having to move to carry out a procedure at a physical counter means taking the car, parking, getting in line… With Covid, many of the most advanced public administration entities have made it possible to carry out everything remotely. It’s obvious that after proving that you can do in ten minutes what used to take hours, no one wants to go back.”
On the use of Artificial Intelligence within the services of a trust service provider: “In some cases we implement AI, in others we fight it. For example in all support systems, in a series of anti-fraud devices for cyber security. The more you use tools like certified e-mail, the more important it is to have an automatic press office: understand from the content what the context is in a large company or public body, in such a way as to automatically forward the content to the dedicated office, avoiding the use of humans to deal with elements that may have their own confidentiality – he explained – On the other hand, an AI with negligible costs can almost completely impersonate a person, it is very difficult to distinguish the original from an AI product. InfoCert guarantees the digital identity of those connected to the other side, even if it is software – reiterated Cattaneo – We give a digital identity to the so-called Internet of Things, we certify data even if it comes from a sensor or a bot” .
Finally, a look at 2024, the year in which the first versions of the Digital Identity Wallet will be made available: “It was announced in 2021 by the EU, we expect the definitive version by the end of the year, so in 2024 the first versions will be made available . It is the evolution of what can now be done with Spid or electronic identity card: for citizens it will be much more usable and portable in Europe, there will be a single standard, a bit like a passport. And another advantage for citizens will be in terms of confidentiality – he concluded – With the Wallet I can agree to release only the minimum information required for a service without showing the other personal information”.
