Hello everyone,
I had an accident with my car on February 8th, 2023. Rear right door and wheel arch striped. The question of guilt was also clarified. HUK contacted me immediately and made 3 purchase offers. I had the car inspected. The driver’s door was previously damaged through my own fault. Was taken into account in the report. All documents with reports and given to the lawyer by the HUK.
1.HUK did not want to pay because of old damage that was not taken into account in the report. My lawyer wanted a police report from the old driver’s door damage accident. My lawyer wrote that the old damage was taken into account in the report and that the old damage is not related to the new damage. Old damage to driver’s door (right). New damage to rear left door and wheel arch.
2.Huk still wasn’t convinced. Didn’t understand the replacement value and appraisal.
Wanted to know how the appraiser took the old damage into account. My lawyer then contacted the expert and asked for clarification. The appraiser reported in writing that the replacement value was reduced by 850 euros for the damaged driver’s door. Everything was communicated back to Huk.
3.HUK still not satisfied. Now they say that the car had significant damage in 2019 and that was not taken into account in the report. I bought the car used on March 25, 2019. Accident free according to the seller. The car was completely fine. I didn’t have an accident in 2019 either. If I don’t know anything, how will the appraiser know.
Since owning it I’ve had it MOT 3 times and no major problems.
I’ve been driving the car for four and a half years and now something like that. This is a 2003 Polo. So it’s not a special car, nor is it an expensive one.
I’m curious to see what my lawyer says
Has anyone had experience with HUK?
I would be very grateful for a few suggestions.
P.S. The driver’s door was completely replaced with the same color. Let’s see whether the replacement value reduced by 850 euros for a damaged door changes.
