Assistant coach Tommy Kraus is moving to Rapid Vienna with immediate effect

It was only at the beginning of the season that Tommy Kraus took over the position of assistant coach at Fortuna after ending his active career. Coach Markus von Ahlen’s assistant is now moving to Rapid Vienna with immediate effect. The Cologne Südstädter have agreed to terminate the contract. The traditional Austrian club has just brought in a new head coach, Robert Klauß. The 36-year-old Kraus will make his debut on the sidelines for the Green-Whites next Sunday in the home game against BW Linz.

“We would have liked to have kept Tommy at the club longer. For us, this is sad news from a sporting and human perspective. But we didn’t want to spoil this opportunity for Tommy that had arisen for him at short notice,” said President Hanns-Jörg Westendorf.

“Of course we very much regret Tommy’s departure. He has already achieved a lot in his short time with us. But he was suddenly able to take the next step in his coaching career. He is a deserving former Fortuna player. So we didn’t want to deny him his wish. “I wish him all the best for his future sporting future,” said sporting director Matthias Mink. It was agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.

“I am incredibly grateful, especially to Markus von Ahlen, but also to Matthias Mink and Hanns-Jörg Westendorf, for giving me this opportunity in the summer. The collaboration was great. Everyone at this club who knows me knows that I always felt at home at Fortuna. Sometimes in life an opportunity arises from one day to the next that you have to seize. That was a lucky coincidence for me,” says Tommy Kraus about his move.
