Frances A. “Frannie” Galofaro, 88, of Dunkirk died Saturday evening (Nov. 18, 2023) at the Chautauqua Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
She was born Feb. 17, 1935 in Wellsville, NY, the daughter of the late Mearl and Elizabeth (Ketchner) Aldrich.
A resident of the area for most of her life, Frances was a graduate of Wellsville High School, class of 1953 and the Jamestown School of Practical Nursing, 1956. She was employed at Brooks Memorial Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Frannie was a devout member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. A loving mother who always put her family first. She was a generous soul who was ready to lend a helping hand to any person who needed one.
Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth (John Jr.) Bane and Colleen (Matthew) Hutchinson, both of Dunkirk; granddaughter, Danielle (Dylan Bennett) Hall of Dunkirk; and several nieces and nephews. Sadly missed by her grand dogs, great grand dogs, and her cat companion, “Bootie”.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Galofaro, who died May 10, 1999; two brothers, William and Harvey Aldrich; and two sisters, Eileen Swort and Veronica James.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior visitation.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Empire Animal Rescue Society www.empirerescue.org.
