The Ministry of Public Health (MSPBS) highlighted an evident increase in covid-19 cases, which has caused 20,040 deaths in Paraguay to date. Weekly, around 500 confirmed cases are registered. They urge timely vaccination.

In the last week, the Ministry of Public Health (MSPBS) affirms that it registered an increase in covid-19 cases that also influences the positivity rate. The increase occurs even despite the decrease in laboratory samples, they maintain.

Data from the General Directorate of Health Surveillance show that 427 positive cases of covid-19 were identified in the last week. The bulletin highlights that the marked increase in infections is observed in the metropolitan axis.
The epidemiological summary shows that the increase in cases of the disease has been occurring for at least 8 weeks, with an average number of cases ranging from 326 cases to 569 confirmed cases per week.
Anti-covid vaccines are available for application from 6 months of age throughout the Ministry of Health’s vaccination network.
Just as cases increase, the number of hospitalized people is also increasing according to the health portfolio. Last week there were 44 hospitalizations, of which only one required therapeutic care. “The groups that most require hospitalization are older adults, followed by children from 0 to 4 years old,” they state from Public Health.
Public Health insists on the importance of timely vaccination
To date, only 370,984 people have received the annual bivalent vaccine against covid-19 this year according to data from the Expanded Program on Immunizations (PAI). From the health portfolio they highlight the importance of vaccination, mainly to avoid serious cases of the disease and hospitalization.
