Robbie Williams met his wife on the set of a documentary in 2006. The two had nothing in common at the time, the couple admits, but still sparked. A first date followed in 2007 and it did not really go well, Field now reveals. The singer had been battling alcohol and drug addiction for years and had relapsed that evening. The behavior Williams displayed during their date was “disturbing,” it said. “I saw what it looks like when someone relapses: apparently clucking like a chicken and wearing only one shoe.”
And yet Ayda fell madly in love. “I swear, something cosmic happened. In that one moment I completely understood who he was and he completely understood who I was,” she explains. That disastrous first date turned out to be the start of a strong relationship, although the couple briefly broke up later in 2007 when Williams was admitted for treatment for his addictions. Williams and Field tied the knot in August 2010 and now have four children together: Teddy (11), Charlie (9), Coco (5) and Beau (3).
