GUATEMALA CITY — A tournament marked by the change in format, the rescheduling of matches due to the activity of the Guatemala National Team and due to the blockades, it has reached its devastating point.

This Sunday the last day of the 2023 Apertura Tournament will be played. All matches will be played at 3:00 p.m. The leadership is at stake, with a key match: the Sporty Achuapa ante FC Communications.

In addition, the last teams classified for the final phase of the championship will be defined. In the tournament there was a group phase with round-trip matches between the members of each block, and an intergroup phase in which the teams from block A faced all the members of block B once and vice versa.

Five teams have already secured their presence at the big party. Sports Achuapa, Communications FC, Municipal, Old GFC and Sports Malacateco.

The other three tickets can be for CD Guastatoya, Zacapa FC, Xelajú MC (now classified), Cobán Imperial, Mixco and Xinabajul-Huehue.

Direct duels

For the lead, Achuapa will receive Comunicaciones FC in Jutiapa. Los Cebolleros are at the top with 27 points, while Comunicaciones is the runner-up with 26 points. The triumph of anyone makes them winners of the classification. A tie gives Municipal and Antigua GFC a chance.

In the lower part, there will be two direct games. Deportivo Mixco will host Xelajú MC. Both with 18 points. The Súper Chivos must win to continue defending the title. And the other game will be between Guastatoya and Cobán Imperial. The Yellow Breasts have 20 points and the Princes Charming 18.
