Details: At the exhibition, which was attended by Supreme Leader Ayatolah Khamenei, Iran’s Ashura University of Aerospace Sciences and Technology presented a jet modification of the Shahed-136, called Shahed-238.

It is presented in three versions with different guidance systems.

Literally: “The fuselages of all three drones have a black color that is uncharacteristic for Iranian UAVs, which may be due to the use of radio-absorbing materials. However, there is no evidence of this yet.

In addition to the classic version with an autonomous guidance system using an inertial system and GPS signals, they also showed options with an infrared/optical and, probably, radar guidance system.

The version with an infrared/optical guidance system can be used to destroy heat-contrasting targets, in particular, important military equipment behind enemy lines.”

Details: According to available data, the drone, thanks to the radar seeker, can become an analogue of anti-radar missiles aimed at the radiation of search radars. Such a tool can be useful for neutralizing and breaking through air defense systems.

The technical characteristics of the Shahed-238 remain unknown. The jet engine must provide high speed, but the price for this had to be a reduced flight range.

During the demonstration of the prototype, a launch from an accelerated car was shown. However, like the previous Shahed-136, the drone should retain the ability to launch from a stationary platform using a solid propellant booster.
