The reigning European champions, Italy, finished second in Group C with 14 points and qualified for the 2024 European Championship. The Ukrainian team also scored 14 points, but lost to the Italians in additional indicators. The Ukrainian team can qualify for the European Championship through the Nations League playoffs.
In February 2022, the Union of European Football Associations and the International Football Federation temporarily suspended Russian clubs and national teams from participating in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine.
