Africell mobile telephony will make investments next year in the order of USD 10 million in around 700 new towers, which will allow the current ones to be doubled. The information was recently provided by the new CEO of the company in Angola, Jorge Vazquez, who explains that each tower costs 150 thousand dollars, but clarifies that the investment is not just in technical material, it is also in human capital.
“We are making investments taking into account the expansion of services to four more provinces in the country, with the aim of achieving national coverage of the operator’s signal in the near future”, he said, adding that “this is the plan for 2024”. Regarding competition, he says that it is the company’s policy to look inward first and only then look outward, arguing that they are not concerned, so they will continue to make investments to achieve excellence in terms of service provision.
“In the last 15 months, since we installed our signal, there are things we have done well and there are others that need to be done well. This is what we are looking at at the moment, as there are things we need to improve before looking at others”, said the manager. In this sense, he highlighted human capital as a priority, saying that they will focus on training staff, as the market does not have many people trained specifically for the telephone industry. He even mentioned that human capital is one of his management’s priorities.
