A young minor was arrested for fatally stabbing a homeless person and injuring a second subject in a park in lower Manhattanthe authorities reported.
The 15 year old teenagerwhose name was not released, was arrested at approximately 5:35 in the morning and accused of murder, attempted murder, attempted assault and battery for the death of Pasquale Alonso25 years old, a man who was homeless.
The minor allegedly fought with Alonso and the second man, 24 years oldinside Sara D. Roosevelt Park, near Broome St. and Delancey St. on the Lower East Side around 8:30 p.m. Thursday, officials said.
Until now It was not clear what caused the dispute.
In the altercation, The 15-year-old boy, who was on the street, took out a sharp object and stabbed Alonso in the chest and the second subject in the torso., police sources explained. The teenager subsequently fled the park.
The paramedics tThe victims were taken to Bellevue Hospital, where Alonso was later pronounced dead.. The other victim was in stable condition.
The authorities believe that the boy and his two victims were unknownsaid the source.
The short section, which extends from Canal St. to E. Houston Street, has been the site of homeless encampments, drug use and other crimes.
