Kaspar Rolštein’s mono-opera “#DiToo” with actress and director Dita Lūriņa will be performed in the Actors’ Hall of the Latvian National Theater on December 6, theater representative Lolita Grāvīte informed LETA agency.
Introducing the content of the production, the theater states that “#DiToo” tells the story of the adventures of a twin sister in Papeži ħonciem, a small settlement on the Kurzeme seaside, whose inhabitants, since the devastating storm in 1967, when the sea completely merged with the lake, have the ability to live simultaneously in several parallel universes and possible histories. Over time, the sister leaves the village. Encountering the world’s prevailing ideas about female sexuality causes misunderstandings and awkward situations, and it is no longer possible to return to one’s native village.
Actress and director Lūriņa notes that in today’s information field, real human relations tend to be replaced by political surrogates. As the director, “#DiToo” is said to be “a winding gravel road home to the kind of love made of sweat, blood and happiness, not ideology.”
The creative team of the production consists of director and actress Lūriņa, costume designer Liene Rolštejna, lighting designer Krista Erdmanes, composer, author of the libretto and bass guitarist Rolštejn.
