It always feels good to help, and the people of Mezőfalv are the same way. On November 18, Saturday evening, there was not a free seat left in the school’s gymnasium, so many people attended the traditional charity ball of the Petőfi Sándor School Development Foundation. Erzsébet Jaksics, the director of the school, and Károly Deák, foundation president, greeted those present first.
The foundation said that with the help of the support, they can contribute to the development of the professional equipment of the kindergarten and school, to the organization of sports and children’s events, to cultural events, and to the rewarding of well-performing students. In 2023, the goals were supported with HUF 1,539,500. We talked about the event with school principal Erzsébet Jaksics.
– Not only does the School Development Foundation provide the kind of help that it provides money for our development ideas, but the event itself has a community-creating power that we might not have always thought about before. We prepare for this program, program numbers are created, our eighth graders work together for months and spare no time or energy to learn a dance and perform it. We feel that this helps a lot in achieving our pedagogical goals.
After all, they learn that you have to work for success, and if they do so, the community will recognize their activities, just as they received a standing ovation. It is important in our lives to create a community and through it to organize the life of the settlement a little. If we look around, we can see many smiling, cheerful, well-intentioned people who donate a lot for the benefit of our children. This spirit has a very good effect on everyone.
After the traditional waltz of the eighth graders, we asked graduating students Réka Németh and András Éva Balázs.
“After the first two weeks of school, we started practicing and our hands didn’t shake when we had to hold the girls’ waists,” we heard from Balázs.
“Balázs was very polite to me,” added Réka. At first we didn’t feel the importance of the event that much, but later, during practice, we became more and more attuned to it, so the ball and a good performance became important to us too.
After primary school, Réka is preparing to become a horseman at Kiskunfélegyháza. Balázs wants to become a mechanical engineer as a student at the Széchenyi Technical University in Székesfehérvár.
Thanks to all supporters! See you next year at the same place!
