Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi said Indonesia together with representatives of the Arab League and other Muslim-majority countries would go to the Russian capital, Moscow, to discuss aggression Israel to Palestine.

The planned visit to the Land of the Red Bear aims to gather support so that a ceasefire can be implemented immediately.

“Tomorrow the OIC Foreign Ministers [Organisasi Kerja Sama Islam] “will continue to raise support for Moscow,” said Retno during a virtual press conference on Monday (20/11).

The visit also took place after Retno and a number of OIC member Foreign Ministers met in Beijing, China today.

Retno together with the Foreign Ministers from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Egypt, Palestine and the Secretary General of the OIC are seeking support from permanent member countries of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) so that a ceasefire can be implemented. This November, China held the UNSC presidency.

“The OIC Foreign Ministers hope for the PRC [Republik Rakyat Tiongkok/China] “can support the efforts being made by the OIC Foreign Ministers,” said Retno.

The visit of a number of OIC Foreign Ministers was a follow-up to paragraph 11 of the Resolution of the OIC-Arab League Extraordinary High Level Conference (Summit) in Riyadh on 11 November.

One of the points of the resolution mandates the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia as Palestine, Jordan, Egypt Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, Nigeria and other countries interested in initiating international action to immediately move on behalf of members.

They initiated international action to stop the war and urge a serious and real political process for lasting peace in Palestine.

According to the plan, the UN Security Council is also scheduled to hold a Foreign Minister level meeting to discuss the Gaza issue again this month.

The international community has repeatedly called for a ceasefire after Israel launched its aggression on Gaza on October 7. However, until now this call has not been implemented.
