The 18th session of the exhibition reviewed the commitment of the aviation, space and defense industry sectors towards achieving growth and development, as the value of the deals that started from Dubai and were concluded during the exhibition exceeded 101 billion dollars (370 billion dirhams), while this session welcomed more than 135,000 visitors, an increase of 30%. % in the number of visitors compared to the previous edition, with the presence of 148 countries and more than 1,400 exhibitors, representing major manufacturers, producers, decision-makers and specialists in the aviation and space industries from around the world who gathered in Dubai to anticipate the future and sustainability of the sector.

The session, which was held at Dubai World Central, witnessed a group of important deals, the most prominent of which was a deal for Emirates Airlines to purchase 95 additional wide-body aircraft from Boeing 777-9, 777-8 and 787, at a value of $52 billion during the first day of the exhibition’s activities, which comes… To advance the company’s growth plans, it also recorded a $6 billion deal to purchase an additional 15 A350-900 aircraft during the show. Flydubai also announced the purchase of 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

Ethiopian Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding to add 11 Airbus A350-900 aircraft to its fleet of aircraft. This memorandum of understanding strengthens Ethiopian Airlines’ position as one of the most prominent A350 customers in Africa. The company also announced its commitment to order 11 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and 20 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, with the possibility of purchasing an additional 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft and 21 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft.

AirBaltic revealed that it had signed a deal to purchase 30 A220 aircraft, becoming the owner of the largest fleet of A220 aircraft in Europe.

The Tawazun Council, the independent government body that works closely with the Ministry of Defense and security agencies to increase value through acquisition systems, announced the signing of contracts with local and international companies worth 23.06 billion dirhams. These contracts included a contract with Halcon to purchase ammunition worth 2.14 billion dirhams, and two contracts with International Golden Group (IGG), the first worth 338 million dirhams to provide technical support for aircraft, and the second to purchase engines and spare parts for aircraft in the UAE worth 13 million dirhams.

Focus on space

The eighteenth session of the Dubai Airshow witnessed a greater focus on space and future technologies, as the Emirates Space Agency revealed during its participation in the exhibition the timetable for the flight of the Emirati spacecraft MBR Explorer to explore the asteroid belt. Other major announcements revealed during the exhibition included the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority with Anan, the leading Emirati technology company that is leading the transformation revolution in the field of transportation through advanced air mobility services. Dubai Airports, the operator of the largest international airport in the world, also announced its partnership with the Intilaaq Centre, the leading innovation platform supporting emerging companies specialized in the fields of travel, tourism and aviation in Dubai.
