Sára Bejlek’s Triumph at WTA 125k Tournament in Chile: A ‘Hurricane’ on the Rise

In the shadow of the Tournament of Champions, seventeen-year-old Sára Bejlek achieved the biggest success of her career so far in Chile. At the WTA 125k tournament, the talented Czech tennis player overcame all the higher-ranked obstacles and made a giant leap towards the top 100 in the world rankings.

The official WTA website reports on Sára Bejlek’s final triumph as a “hurricane”.

In the duel for a valuable trophy at the foot of the Andes, the Czech defeated the French Diane Parry, the 91st player in the world, 6:2, 6:1.

Before that, she also knocked out other seeded players on the local clay, including French Open 2020 semifinalist Nadia Podoroská from Argentina.

During her entire previous career, she managed to win only two matches at this level.

“Demolition job. Bejlek was amazing today, she made almost no mistakes. It’s the biggest title of her career. I’ve been to four out of five of her matches and her tennis is a lot of fun,” noted Chilean journalist Juan Ignacio on the X platform.

The 157-centimeter-tall tennis player made a significant jump in the world rankings in Colina.

In the latest edition of the ranking, she has moved up 60 places, currently she is in the 134th position, and towards the top 100 she is followed by the sixteen-year-old Brenda Fruhvirtová, who is in the 119th place.

Bejlek confirms the experts’ predictions. According to the analysis carried out before the current season, the WTA expected its rise together with the arrival of the whole “new Czech wave”. Not surprisingly, considering that the Czech player was the youngest tennis player in the main competition of the US Open 2022.

This year, on the other hand, the American Grand Slam ended in a bitter disappointment for her. Bejlek lost to China’s Wang Ja-fan in the first round of qualification without winning a single game. The rarely seen debacle 0:6, 0:6 did not affect her.

The tennis player from Hrušovan nad Jevišovkou is in excellent shape at the end of the season, her streak of invincibility is already ten matches in a row. In October, she won a smaller tournament in Italy.

The talented player already won her seventh trophy among adults, she celebrated the previous six titles on the lower ITF circuit. She won three titles this season.
