According to The Information, Ilya Sutskever, co-founder and member of the board of directors of OpenAI, announced Shear’s appointment to the company’s employees. He also added that Sam Altman, who was fired from the company, will not return.

The dismissal of Sam Altman, one of the founders of OpenAI, became known on November 17. The board of directors motivated this by saying that the CEO “was not consistently frank in his contacts with the board, which prevented him from fulfilling his duties.” OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman was also removed from the board of directors, after which he and three other senior developers also left the company.
