Osnabrück has switched on the Christmas lights in 2023 – hasepost.de

Since Friday evening, Osnabrück city center has been transformed into a radiant sea of lights that will create a festive atmosphere until January 6, 2024. Marketing Osnabrück GmbH (mO) has organized Christmas lighting that not only shines festively, but also takes sustainability aspects into account.

The Christmas lights come in time for the ice magic that has already started at Nikolaiort and for the 2023 Christmas market, which starts on Friday as a “WarmUp”.

Short interruption of the Christmas lights next Sunday

A short break will take place on Deadly Sunday, November 26, 2023. The lights are turned off out of respect for this day. Afterwards, the Christmas lights installed along the wall will shine again until the new year. Alexander IllenseerManaging Director of Marketing Osnabrück GmbH, emphasizes: “The Christmas lights not only create a festive atmosphere, but also promote a welcoming culture in the city.”

Behind the scenes of the Osnabrück Christmas lights

Iris Pohl, Head of City Management at mO, explains that her organization coordinates all key aspects of lighting, including procurement, storage, maintenance and installation. The LED lights used are energy efficient and long lasting, contributing to the sustainability of the installation.

New illuminated areas and highlights in Osnabrück city center

Newly illuminated areas have been added this year, including Domhof, Marienstrasse, Johannisstrasse and Lortzingstrasse. The shooting stars along the green central strip on the wall deserve a special mention, as they are a real highlight. Other illuminated locations include the Heger Tor, the Vitischanze, the Bucksturm and many more.

Financial support and community spirit

The mO is financially supported in this project by various local organizations and communities. This support makes it possible to create an atmospheric light spectacle that attracts both locals and visitors from afar. Illenseer is enthusiastic: “The illuminated backdrop strengthens the quality of life and contributes to the visibility of the city. We are pleased that the festive lighting is enlivening the city center.”
