Ex-OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is planning a new AI company with ex-president Greg Brockman

Sam Altman, the recently fired CEO of OpenAI, plans to start a new AI company that will also be joined by former OpenAI president Greg Brockman. The project is still in the development phase and the exact nature of the company is unknown, reports The Information citing a person familiar with the matter. Altman is already in discussions with investors.

While still CEO of OpenAI, Altman held discussions with semiconductor industry executives, including chip designer Arm, to develop new chips for large AI models such as GPTs. The new company could include AI hardware and chip design. Altman’s deep ties to Silicon Valley and backing from venture capitalists could help attract talent to the new company, including additional employees who could leave OpenAI after its recent turmoil.
