0:3 in Bülach and no farewell present for “Munti”: FC Bazenheid also lost the last game of the year – FC Wil 2 separated from Weesen 1:1
Only a few months ago very few people would have thought this result possible. After a completely unsuccessful preliminary round, FC Bazenheid is in penultimate place in Group 4 of the 2nd interregional league.
FC Bazenheid is facing a restless winter break. The 0:3 on Saturday in Bülach was the 11th defeat of the season in the 15th game – a catastrophic result. So the Toggenburgers are already pretty far behind in the penultimate place in the table. Staying in the league seems pretty unrealistic at this point.
At the same time, the players missed out on giving their outgoing assistant coach Philipp Muntwiler a fitting farewell gift. “Munti” will stop playing for FC Wil in the Challenge League at the end of the year and will take over as assistant coach from January. He has held the same position at FC Bazenheid since March – now he is giving it up again.
We fell behind early on
The appearance at newly promoted Bülach started very badly for the Bazenheiders. After five minutes, Captain Marc Ott deflected a sharp cross into his own goal. The Toggenburgers were able to keep up with their play later on, but as was so often the case in this unsuccessful preliminary round, there was a lack of imagination on the offensive.
President Danny Lüthi, who seemed quite resigned and perplexed, said: “Nothing was happening against the front.” His statement is confirmed when looking at the table. With 23 goals scored, Bazenheid has the weakest offensive behind Adliswil (18), which is also in a relegation zone.
There was no improvement after the break – on the contrary. After a cross, Jamie Klay was in the right place and scored into the far corner to make it 2-0. That wasn’t the end of the humiliation. At the beginning of the final quarter of an hour, the Bülach team, by no means a superior team, went one better and made it 3-0 through Lorenzo Galati.
What’s next at FC Bazenheid? According to President Danny Lüthi and sports director Dejan Baumann, there will be an order of interpretation in the next few days in which the past few months will be rigorously analyzed. We can look forward to the result.
Wiler’s offspring only plays a draw
There should also be an analysis at FC Wil 2. Coach Fabinho will ask himself why his team has only drawn four times in the last five games – including on Saturday in the 1-1 draw at home against relegation candidate Weesen.
After the preliminary round, the team took a pleasing second place behind SV Schaffhausen. The gap to the leaders has grown to ten points due to the series of draws. A mortgage that can hardly be paid off in the spring.
